How I am Such a Good Friend

Yesterday my friend Nicole from Pittsburgh calls me stranded at National Airport, her connecting flight out of there from Boston en route to Florida having been cancelled and unable to get another flight. She knows I live in the area, so she gets in touch with me and asks for a place to crash for the night. Of course I say yes, hop in my car and pick her up at arrivals. She'd never been to DC before, so I took the nice route home that lets you see the monuments and then took Key Bridge into Georgetown so she could see the area, the university, and even Visitation.
We get to my dad's, have a nice time catching up, watching a movie, and having my dad grill chicken for us. Of course, we tell her that we'll help get her back to National in the morning so she can get her flight to Florida and ask what time the rescheduled flight is.
6 am. That is EARLY to be on a plane.
Which means I got up at 4:20 to drive her to the airport in the horrific storm that started around 3:50 this morning. It is really unsettling to drive on the GW Parkway in the pitch black. Driving on it in the pitch black with a thunderstorm is downright terrifying. The way there wasn't too bad because we talked and she kept me awake. The drive home was horrible because I had nothing but radio to keep me company. It is very dangerous to be nodding off while you're driving in a storm, I learned.
The weirdest moment was when Mix 107.3 went to commercial break around 4:55 and the DJ announced, "Up next-the Jack Diamond Morning Show!" Can't say I've ever been up that early to listen to it.
