It's been a while...

It's been quite a while since I posted.  A lot going on and not much going on.

I've been looking for a job, but I don't seem to qualify for anything.  Tax class started in September, but actual paid work isn't until January - and doesn't pay much.  I'm going in for Orientation for substitute teaching on Tuesday.  Even though I did teach one year, I felt the orientation would be helpful.  That was just over 10 years ago.

We've been staying close to home, with finances being tight.  Haven't been to many SCA events and I can't get to my sewing machine with the mess in the dining room.  I have been working on ruffs for a shift, but that's hand-work that I take to practices and meetings.

We've all been working in the back yard, trying to get rid of the ivy that wants to take over the lawn.  The boys and I have made good progress an hour or so at a time.  Last weekend, Jeb worked a marathon - and completely cleared out around one of the pine trees.  I can't work more than about half an hour before my back tells me to quit!

Another project has been trying to clean up the house.  The boys attacked the entry hall and have gone through about half the clutter in the living room.   We still have a long way to go.

Today has been busy.  I had Tax Class this morning and got home with just enough time to grab a sandwich for lunch and change to go to our church for the funeral of a lady only three years older than I. The place was packed!   There are advantages to being in the choir - guaranteed seating.  There seem to be two types of funerals - the sad ones and the ones that are a celebration of a life.  This one was the later.  Of course, we were among the last to leave, having stayed to help with clean-up after the reception.  And I came home with a bread machine left over from the church's Yard Sale that was this weekend.
