We're not what you would call die-hard sports fans. We watch the Super Bowl and maybe a play-off game, usually a few games of the World Series, an occasional tennis match. The boys watch things like the XGames. And of course, we all watch the Olympics. But for the regular seasons, we don't have favorite pro teams, although I do sometimes favor the Lakers in basketball because Jerry West went to the same Junior and Senior High Schools that I did - but several years earlier!
Growing up, we followed the local high school teams and Fall Friday nights were for football games since we were all in the band. None of my family actually played sports until my nephews started. Our attitude was that the only reason for a football game was for the half time show! And we had good bands, too!
I attended an all-girls college, so I don't even have a college team to follow for football. Radford does have a viable men's basketball team now, but I just can't really accept the fact that men have taken over my college. (It's no longer all-girls.)
So, tonight was a sports night. Jeb likes to cheer for the under-dog so tonight was a Saints night. And they marched in!
