ok so there is this one guy in my social inequality class, i like him and all, but he totally blind to the privilege he has as a male and as a person of the dominant race. i just don't understand how he cannot see that he is part of the dominant group and that it is really hard for him to be oppressed in any way because he is par tof the group that oppresses.
also one of the questions asked during this exercise was "if you have been a victim of violence due to your race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. take one step back.
well there are 5 women in the class and i think 3 of the 5 had been victims of violence based on their gender. i was floored by this. if that many women in my class have been victimized, then think about how many women on campus have been victims of gender violence. something has to be done about this.
