Ah sorry, this was meant to be happy xmas, turned into a random meandering mindbauble

So did you see the news? Some carefully orchestrated good news from our boys in Basra. Hmm. Thing is despite being a cynical bitch I can totally understand why all those families who are coping with christmas without their loved ones in Iraq could do with some good news to make them feel that somehow its all worth it. What gets to me is this... if the good news needs to be so blatently choreographed then surely that just goes to show that deep down we all know that there really is no point in being there and we really aren't doing any good. Its such a fucking waste. 4 years

:'(

Been thinking about peace and love and stuff, and why I justify my opinion that its better to let people fight their own battles. I think it shows a great deal of arrogance to assume you fully understand somebody else's problem, especially when they live on the other side of the world and have an entirely different culture and social structure, and then presume to tell them how to solve their presumed problem. Aside from that though I really am beginning to believe that true love is freedom, freedom for a person to fight if they want to, or lay down their sword and "love their neighbour". No one else can make that choice. For instance, all our troops out in Iraq are there because they wanted to be. They joined the army, that was their career choice. I think the only way to ensure peace all over the world, the way its commonly understood, is to crush people's freedom to fight if they want to. I'm as against that as I am against war. Which is why my war is over. I'm laying down my sword (man - lol) and will love my neighbour and will become peace in my own little piece of the world. I'm gonna try my best to make peace with myself, and hope that the rest of the world takes the opportunity to do the same. Thats my "christmas" wish if you like.

Yeah so, and what Bill Hicks said about Jesus and crosses and stuff too... yeah.

Prophets are cool

and so are hugs
