Disclaimer: The only characters of this story that I own are my OCs. Everything else belongs to Being Human.
Notes: My obsession with Being Human has come down to this. I hope it's not too terrible. It's still in its early stages, so it may go through some changes, plus I'm not finished with it yet and it may go on hiatus in the future. Nonetheless, here is one of the longest stories I've ever written.

Mitchell just wanted a normal life. That was it, nothing more, nothing less. Unfortunately, being a vampire made that, to say the least, difficult. Now, here he was, a hospital porter with his best friend, George, who just so happened to be a werewolf.
Mitchell cynically laughed to himself. Right, normal. As if that could ever be possible. Having a ghost as an additional flatmate didn’t really help the situation either. The vampire mopped up another puddle before moving to another section of the ward he was cleaning.
Mitchell wasn’t really paying attention, which resulted in nurse passing by bumping into him, shaking the man from his thoughts.
“Oh, sorry,” she smiled at him.
Mitchell smiled back and then froze as he heard her pulse beating in his ears.
She looked at him, worried. “Everything alright?”
Letting out a small gasp, Mitchell snapped out of his trance. “Yeah, yeah. Fine,” he tightly smiled back at her and turned to walk away. “Shit,” he mumbled to himself. He pushed through the doors and ran into none other than George.
“Hi, Mitchell,” George said cheerfully.
Mitchell only grunted in reply and George stopped him
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s…nothing,” Mitchell answered.
George stepped closer to Mitchell. “It’s the blood, isn’t it?” he said softly.
Reluctantly, Mitchell nodded and looked down, ashamed.
George gave his friend’s shoulder a reassuring squeeze. “You can do it, mate.” He looked Mitchell in the eye before continuing on his way.
Mitchell quickly straightened himself up, strengthened by his friend’s words and went through the rest of his day.

When Mitchell and George arrived home, they were greeted with plates of food all over the flat.
George stared, mouth agape before Annie rushed into the room.
“Hi!” she said excitedly.
“Hi,” Mitchell said coolly, though he looked around the room with a concerned look.
“He-hello,” George answered. “Um…Annie?”
Annie looked at George with a huge grin. “I can cook now!”
“Yes, yes, I can see that, but…did you need to make so much food?” George gestured at the plates.
“Oh no!” Annie laughed. “I just got excited.” She skipped over and grabbed two plates, handing them to Mitchell and George. “Eat up!”
Mitchell let out a laugh and took a plate while George finally snapped out of his state of shock and took the other.
“Thank you.”
A large smile remained plastered on Annie’s face and she sat down at the table with her two friends. “How was work?”
“Mm, fine,” Mitchell answered after taking a bite. George nodded in agreement and dug into his food as well.
Annie nodded and smiled, but she noticed something hanging in the air. “Any troubles with…?” she gestured towards Mitchell.
Mitchell stopped mid-bite. “Nothing I couldn’t handle,” he mumbled and went back to his plate.
Seeing Mitchell didn’t want to talk about it, Annie quickly changed the subject and the evening went back to normal. George mentioned a nurse he was interested in and Annie was quick to offer the role of matchmaker, which George immediately refused.
Mitchell smiled at his friends. It was at times like this that life did seem fine after all.
