I saw on Twitter earlier this week that the new DW companion was going to be announced "tomorrow"! And it made me sad that I just didn't care. I didn't spend the next day avidly hitting refresh and checking for updates; in fact I completely forgot about it until at least another day had gone by

I am reserving judgement until we know anything about her character, other than I like her eyebrows and think she looks adorbs. I just hope she's not another Pond.

I switched off at the insistence on her whackiness, the fact that she's "faster than Matt" and that she'll lead the Doctor "a merry dance".

She's a lovely looking girl, it's true, but it's time for something different and we know SM can write older companions and male companions. Why - other from that age old reason of putting in some eye-candy for the dads - is he stuck in this rut?

I think everyone's been stuck on young-earth-girl since about Jo Grant, exceptions obviously happening on occasion.

TBH my main worry is she'll be crowded out by the Ponds :S I don't like when a companion isn't the most important person in the Doctor's life at that time.

So the Ponds are leaving before the new Companion arrives, so I don't think that will be an issue.
