It's half-term and I've had a hectic couple of days so far this week. I took the kids out shopping yesterday and today we all schlepped to London and back for the Doctor Who Experience at Olympia
( Read more... )
It was a real "awww" moment when I got to the old TARDIS. And add to that Vale Decem and THAT scene playing over and over and it was quite emotional. *sniff*
Hooray! I'll be over the second week of June, so I'll keep my eyes on the DWE website for when they're taking bookings for that time. I've always been over for the touristy/historical things primarily, so this will be my first Tennanty/Whovy/geeky pilgrimage! (And there's even a Who store down the street from the hotel--I can buy stuff!)
This looks pretty awesome actually. (AND I WILL BE IN LONDON SOME TIME IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS. And in the last two hours I managed to get my sister into Doctor Who.... I bet I can convince her... :D )
Also: Ten's coat is epic. I LOVE that the BBC actually makes licensed replicas, though it crushes my soul that they cost so much money. D: On the bright side I got to try one on?
At least my sister works for a hotel, so that will be cheap(er). Otherwise my bank account is going to crying. XD
I have a rather large amount of epic costumes because my mom is super-talented and strangely willing to assist when I'm all "I NEED A SIR ROBIN COSTUME!!!!1" or whatever it is I happen to need at the time. Although I must admit, I want Sherlock's coat more than Ten's at the moment... I also want Captain Jack's coat. DAMN YOU BBC AND YOUR AWESOME COATS.
That looks like a great exhibit! (except for the wait times) How cool that you got a good closeup look at Ten's TARDIS. Though I can understand how it was tough watching him regenerate over and over. Why couldn't they have used happy, fun times instead? There were a lot of them after all!
It was very good, although yeah, the wait times were a bit of a downer. Maybe when it's been running longer (and it's not a school holiday) it 'll have settled down a bit.
I heard Vale Decem wafting in when I was in the previous room so I was prepared for that... but not for the big video screen. I tried not to be a total wuss, but I couldn't watch it. I started to get a bit choked up as it was and the last thing i wanted was to start blubbing - my kids would have disowned me for one thing!

Yeah, I'd love to get my hands on that coat. And who was inside it, come to think of it.... *g*

I've read various blogs by people who've made replica suits and coats... I can't sew for toffee, so I am in awe :-)

But it's definitely worth seeing - and I hope that once it's been up and running for a while, the timings will have settled down a bit.
