Neurologist's was cool. But... I need a bunch of tests. AGAIN.
I DID randomly say to myself that I wanted to know what it was like to have an MRI. Now I'mma go get one!
Here is what I gather from my doctors. (Three of them, and counting.)
1. Take care of yourself. The little things you do that you already know are bad for you, they add up, sometimes even once is too many. Cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, unhealthy eating, no exercise, too much stress, not sleeping enough, thinking too much (aka. insomnia) - they are not good for you and you must do all you can to keep them away from you. Especially drugs - you don't know who put that stuff together, the conditions they used to grow/concoct that thing, why put your life in some careless idiot's hands? So when your high gets complicated, do you think this person will help you pay your medical bills? Will they even care that they hurt you?
Seriously, lets have some self respect.
The problem with being young is that you think it doesn't add up. The only thing that is different when you're young is that your body isn't tired from repairing itself yet. But don't wear it out, kids. Trust me, doctor's clinics, no matter how high tech or how cool the doctor is... its no fun way to spend your days.
It is also not a fun way to spend your money!!!! With or without insurance, you don't want any of your hard earned money to go to medical bills. (Unless its for multi-vitamins but that's another story).
2. I know I'm pretty healthy and I take pains to be careful about what I eat and do with my body. I figure I don't know when I'm going to die so I might as well prepare for a long life. I do not want to be an invalid. I want to chase after grandkids (should I end up with them). I want to be one of those old folk who take trips by themselves and do not need alalays. That would PISS. ME. OFF. I want to be unstoppable for as long as possible.
But despite the pains I take to be careful with how I live, I DO know that I'll get sick. I'm not gonna sit around here and LET it just happen though!
My doctors commended me for caring enough to watch what I do and eat. It makes a BIG difference, they say. So, yay me. Because of that, I do not need that much medication or monitoring. Yesss.
3. What you decide to do today, that is good for you, keep doing it until it becomes your lifestyle. For example, my derma told me I have really healthy skin which owes itself to the hordes of vegetables I consume, and the sunblock I always put on everyday. I'm not aiming for porcelain levels, here. I just want to be healthy. When you're healthy you get to enjoy things so much more than when you aren't. Don't you agree?
4. The best way to keep healthy is to THINK healthy. Your thoughts really have a big effect on your health. Tama ang bible. You must stay away from things that pollute the mind. Your thoughts do control your destiny. When you sow too much in things that nurture fear, doubt, gossip, insecurity, lust, jealousy... is it any wonder that you add that to your over-all self esteem? Why would you wanna do that?
In any case, let's be wise about what we do to ourselves. Arrogance cares not about the aftermath of our bad decisions. I'm just saying. It won't kill you to take care of yourself, but being stupid about your health actually will.
