SURPRISE!
ok, funny little story for you...
james and i went to a bridal shower yesterday (a horribly planned bridal shower, i might add, especially for someone bringing a baby... long story short, we weren't able to park at this girl's house because it would tip off the surprise, we were told to park at a nearby church and take a shuttle to the house. well, apparently you can't park at that church without getting towed, she hadn't checked to make sure it was ok. so we were told to go to a nearby middle school to park. then i was given the wrong directions to the middle school and drove probably 30 minutes out of my way.) anyhow, when they yelled "SURPRISE!!!" james started to cry. like, full on, wailing. he never cries that way, he might fuss or cry for a minute. ok, he'll fuss way longer than a minute, but you know what i mean. and he cried for like an hour. maybe not that long. but i had to take his little pants off, because he worked up a sweat from crying. we had to walk around the house and then around the yard. i tried to get him to eat, he wasn't having any of that. people kept trying to talk to him while he was screaming (seriously, people, you think that's going to make him stop? lol) eventually he settled down, ate, and promptly fell asleep on my lap. i was able to put him down in his car seat and there he stayed. i thought it was pretty hilarious, honestly. it was a long day for both of us though. luckily he stayed asleep for the shuttle ride back to the car and the whole way home and then some. so lesson learned, the baby can sleep through a barking dog, the vacuum, and kids at daycare, but don't take him to a surprise party.
