Friday:
a nasty storm rolled in and did some major damage in and around toronto. flooding, tornadoes, even. i was glued to the radar all afternoon, interpreting for my friends at A Space, as we tried to figure out whether our planned excursion to harborfront should be postponed.
the rain came down full force around 5:30, and by six it had stopped, and we were on our way.
Saturday:
breakfast at picadilly's, did some cleaning, got some nookie (!!!), unpacked my cd's for the first time in a year, then polkadots came over and we three went walking. ended up at christie pitts park, eating korean popsicles (best ever!). we watched kids play on the slides and tried out these weird disc-swings. i wish id managed to get a picture of p on them, she was really adorable. finally we came upon a new nerd-cafe, at harbord and grace, which we tried out. there was karaoke that wasnt half bad. very wacky place, but possibly a good study spot.
Sunday:
i have never been so bored in recent memory. i had nothing planned, and nothing came up, and i couldnt think of a single thing i wanted to do. the weather was beautiful, but i couldnt enjoy it because i was trapped inside, by the simple fact that i had no idea what i would do with myself out there. i think what i really needed was a good book, and maybe a reading companion, in a park somewheres. but that didnt happen. i just moped all day. i refused to do work, saving up for monday. oh yeah, and we did laundry, whoopie!
in order to stave off any future situation so dire, i came up with a few things:
- throw a party next saturday. you toronto kids are invited.think afternoon, think bbq. more later.
- go get some books. i have a list of can lit from p and a couple others id like to get to. its about time i got around to reading some more pynchon. thats about my speed right now. any recommendations of books and (used/cheap) booksellers is welcome. i know i will soon be out of time for such things, but i have no excuse right now.
- get a dvd player on b's computer or mine that actually works and rent good movies.
Today:
spent the day at the studio, in the computer lab, backing up everything on the desktop from last year to make room for new stuff. uploaded footage and sound capture from esophagus installation, and began editing. totally fatiguing, esp the sound, which is awful.
goal: finish esophagus documentation by the end of this week, as well as writing prelim proposal. no prob.
i would like to get some generic submissions and esophagus proposal ready to send out into the world before school starts.
