I think that art can change the world, and does. I think, with out art and the expression of that part of people, we would lead pretty useless lives. It can be a noble expression, or it can be base. But I find certain things that should be said are only able to be said through art in any of its various mediums. Sometimes it's not even something that needs to be said, but more a voice that needs to be heard.
I'll probably sound a bit hokey saying this, but I think without this sort of release we cannot rise above the smaller more petty pieces of life. I'm certainly not going to label what it is, it's so many different things, and you can find it so many places. This being said, I can't think of many people that seem to have much soul that don't partake of some sort of artful living.
I keep waiting for the great revolution of the soul in our age, I am assuming with all the shit and horribleness there is out there, that we should have some damn fine inspirations. Perhaps inspiration is muddled. Perhpas people have so long forgotten what it feels like to be truly happy, and therefore think they are content now, which I find hard to believe. It's hard to step outside a moment at that moment. Perhaps we are in the midst of it.

yeah, i agree with all of that. i guess i meant that its a more subtle kind of changing the world. it wont end poverty or war or illness in any obvious way, but maybe it can change some important decisions that lead to or away from those things.

i like your idea of a "great revolution of the soul", although you and i know that were not talking about the religiously defined soul.

i think youre right that people ahve forgotten what being really happy feels like. most people mistake being numb, the absence of pain or sadness, for being happy.
