BSG: The redemption of Leemo?

Dec 22, 2010 02:12

My blu-ray of S4.0 finally arrived today. Actually, two copies arrived, thanks to the fact that our weather and Greenland's have swopped, and Amazon is awesome about customer service. One set will need returning, joy.

Annnyway, one of the incentives for buying this was the fact that there's an additional 20-odd minutes of exclusive deleted scenes for a handful of eps: Six of One, Guess What's Coming For Dinner, The Hub, and Revelations. Given that selection, any self-respecting Roslin-fan could be forgiven for thinking that there'd be something there - they'd be wrong. No Laura at all.

But...!! One of the deleted scenes is an extract from the Quorum meeting on C1 where they consider a vote of no-confidence in Laura. And Leemo, dear Leemo, comes to the rescue, every bit as eloquent and irritating - and right - as he was in Crossroads, but this time he's fighting Laura's corner, with Zarek glaring balefully at him throughout. He wins, of course (Lee, that is). He points out in blunt terms what Laura has done for the fleet, and what she's sacrificed, and reminds them that she's dying, and in a sense she's dying for them, and they OWE HER. Cue stunned and shamed Quroum. Oh, and he settles a fanon point I've sometimes seen debated: Roslin was indeed C-i-C.

Squee.

Now I want to see a fic where Laura is bitching about Lee to someone - Tom, maybe - and he slaps her down by telling her about this, because it was absolutely made of win.

Some rather nice Adama-men-bonding there too. They're starting to move forward from Crossroads.

Those scenes should not have been cut, especially the Quorum one. It really shows Lee building some kind of rapport with the other delegates, and you'd think that'd be important to show for the President Adama arc at the end of this half-season. Bah. Silly people.
