Ramblings
It would seem I don't post anything of any importance or value. But I do have some quick ramblings.

Tornado, well, the kit would be in the basement (as would we) so I should have access to the stuff.
Ice storm, blizzard. Both of those are possible. Those have, actually, been what I have been putting the most thought into. I don't have a generator, (God knows I want one) but I think I might be able to run my boiler on 2 car batteries. (It is hooked up to a small transformer and the pump and the boiler both list as being 24v.) I intend to experiment when I can.
As far as the man-made disaster. There is a bit of that in my thinking, although much of what one can do involves laying in several months of food and water. I'm not up to doing that. (and not really interested in keeping track of that many supplies. Food and water need to be rotated. etc...)
Zombies? You might be surprised at how many people REALLY get into preparing for a zombie attack. I mean, some people take it WAY too seriously. But doing that invariably involves lots of guns and ammo. Also something that isn't in the cards for me.
There are also more than one kind of kit I can put together. There is the bug-out bag. ("BOB") Meant to be able to grab and run, and then there is planning on hunkering down. (Which seems to be more popular.
I'm honestly not becoming some survivalist freak. It's just the sort of thing I like working out.
