Sherlock was already wrapping his scarf around his neck when his phone began to ring again. He was glad at least Lestrade knew when he was out of his depth.

"Holmes."

"I suppose you need a written invitation, too?" Sherlock couldn't help but smirk at the annoyance in Lestrade's voice.

"When I get there, perhaps." He hung up at that before rushing out of the flat to catch a cab to the clinic.

The cogs of his mind cranked furiously as the streets of London passed him by. What was the possible motive behind killing one infant, let alone a whole room of them? Life insurance was a no. They just popped out of the womb, they could hardly be covered yet. There were far less lethal ways to make an excuse to sue the hospital as well. Money was not clearly not the issue. There was, of course, the chance that it was accidental, but it wasn't. No hospital in modern Britain would lose a whole ward to a single sickness if it were something conventional. Not to mention Lestrade wouldn't have called if it was an accident. Sherlock was forced out of this reverie when the cab finally arrived at the clinic. Sure enough, the Finest were out and about, but he breezily passed through them as always on his way inside.
