The family goes to see Superman Returns...

The whole family went and saw Superman Returns Sunday night. The most entertaining part of the night? My brother hated the movie. REALLY hated the movie. Hated it so much that, in fact, he was even complaining about the opening credits ("What the hell was with the lasers!? Why did they do it for EVERY SINGLE WORD??").

I actually found his rants more entertaining than I did the movie. No suprise here--I'm not a Superman girl. Never have been. I was raised on Batman, Spider-Man, and X-Men, and that is where my loyalties lie. Superman would have to be an amazing movie to fully win me over, and it wasn't. Never the less, I didn't think that Superman Returns was a bad movie--just not a great one. It falls in line with the first X-Men movie (also directed by Bryan Singer)--entertaining, but far from perfect. X-Men also had a shorter runner time, and was the better for it.

Time was a major problem with this movie, in my humble opinion. It was just too damn LONG. I pride myself on my long attention span, but I found myself checking my watch at times. Superman Returns did not demand its 2 hour 45 minute running time. There was simply not enough to be said in the story. A little more editing, and it would have been a much tighter film.

So sue me, I thought that "X-Men: The Last Stand" was the better film.

That last comment's going to get me killed, isn't it?
