So, what has that Haden guy been doing?

A lot of this is out of date, but it will be said anyway.

Napier Art Deco Weekend

I have to say this weekend was incredibly awesome... For people who don't know about it for 1 week each year Napier does as much as it can to transport itself back into the art-deco period, with Street parades featuring vintage cars, Costume enforced events, and even a street trolley derby.

But for me (and the people I travelled down with) this just forms the back drop to almost constant live music and social dancing.

Have some photos

Anyway, the whole thing was amazing, and it was nice to be able to help teach one of the beginners classes. I say help teach, but as is often the case in our little circle it would be more accurate to say I played the role of "man puppet" simply leading the moves that the actual teacher tells me, and only offering advice when given permission... Well, not that bad, but it is a far cry from actual teaching.

Anyway, I will certainly be going next year and hope to drag lots of you people down with me.

Wushu

Staff and Spear! Oh how I love weapons... it is like my arms are finally complete when I have a stick to twirl or a sword to play with...

Also my jumps are improving significantly... possibly not to the untrained eye, as by improve I mean "suck less balls than they used too" but in terms of technique they are 100 times better... so all I need to add is strength and flexibility. (I think I spot a theme).

We had the last of the outdoor classes this week, and will be back in the hall from Monday, which is probably for the best as it was getting pretty dark towards the end of classes in the gardens this week.

New Car

So Liana and I have a car now... not the newest car on the block almost 300,000Km on the clock, but it does have the advantage of being free and free is good.

Rego and Warrant for 6 months and Liana's father has looked after it well, so it will do the job to get me to Wushu twice a week and the occasional trip out to see friends on the weekend.

Well, there is still more to say, but I'll leave it for now... as I grow tired of this typing business, and hot chocolate awaits!
