When in doubt, go to the movies

It's been on my list of Movies To Watch for quite a while - it seems to have really informed the slightly off-beat culture of the last thirty years or so, and it was starting to bug me that I didn't get the references ( Read more... )

my three favourite films of all time are probably:

'Walkabout' (on the list!!!) and 'Don't Look Now' - both directed by Nicolas Roeg, a brilliant director...

and 'The Last Temptation Of Christ' - dir. Martin Scorcese.

My favourite films I've seen so far this year are: 'The Straight Story', 'Grizzly Man', 'Innocence', 'Naqoyqatsi' and 'Hidden (Cache)'. But have you heard of any of that lot I wonder...???

Out of the ones you mention, 'The Godfather' is definitely the best IMO!

Out of the top 50... 'City Of God', '2001', 'North By Northwest', 'Lost In Translation', 'Touch Of Evil', 'The Player', 'Trainspotting', 'Three Colours: Blue'*, 'Cabaret', Brazil' and 'Secrets And Lies' are all really worth seeing I think.

* not as good as 'Three Colours: Red' - but why not see the whole trilogy, Blue, White then Red and make up your own mind? (I think everyone agrees 'White' is shite, though!).

The big one I SOOOO want to see off the list is 'Mulholland Drive', it looked amazing!!!

(As for Coen Brothers films, I'd like to put a word in for 'Barton Fink', probably my own favourite....)
