You know what, the internet lo-o-oves books.
I'm a bit of a fan of
bookcrossing, myself, but it's not the only option. BC aside, you can
Paperback Swap, if you like the idea of credits and debits, rather than random acts of kindness. You can catalogue your books with
Bibliophil or
Library Thing, or grow your reading list over at
Reader2.
You can even read the damn things online, right there beside your favourite blog, with the
Gutenberg Project, or multitask by listening to
LibriVox while you read your favourite blog.
Unfortunately, if you want the latest releases - by which I mean anything where the author has been dead for less than 75 years or so - you still have to pay. Which is one big reason I'll mostly be sticking to charity shops, and cheering wildly when they switch to online ordering. That and the fact that a book is easier to handle in the bath.
