I just couldn't resist. I was so in love with Mildmay after Mélusine that I ran out the day after I finished it to buy the sequel. And as far as the Mildmay love went, The Virtu delivered: Mildmay's narration was just as great as I'd hoped it would be. I still had issues with the sections with Felix, but there was one development that was a whole world of awesome that I can't even begin to talk about without being through-the-roof spoilery for Mélusine -- suffice it to say it was exactly where I was hoping Monette would go and oh, did she ever. Other than my issues with Felix, I only had one other large problem with the book, and that was how Monette would spend pages upon pages having characters grapple with their mental issues, but when there's a daring escape or a sneaky rescue that needs to happen, it's over and done with in three pages, tops. I just wish she had treated the action parts a bit more thoroughly.
