Turning mirrors upside down won't make dust fall off the ground

I haven't posted in a while.

I had a delightful holiday season. I got plenty of great gifts, even though all I asked for was a new hard drive. The hard drive, of course, is being nothing but a pain. Every new computer part purchase requires hours and days of pain and suffering. God forbid that you could install the thing and format it and it would work.

So my holiday break has been spent laying around the house. Unfortunate there is only a week of that left, but I think that I am well rested and ready for another semester. But just so you don't think I'm that much of a slacker, I've been doing some semi-useful things over the break also.

I finished a few books, which felt good. I only read one and a half non-text books during the semester. I finished off the Ender quartet and started the last three tie-in books of the series, all of which I have enjoyed a lot.

I've also been writing a lot of music. I say "a lot" because I haven't done squat for almost two years. I had a lack of inspiration up until mid-December. Now all of a sudden, I'm coming up with new ideas every day. I don't know where it's coming from, but I'm glad I'm finally able to do the stuff I'd like to do for a living. Anyway, this past month has resulted in probably 80 some measures of music. Which really isn't much and of course some of it is repetitive. I'm also not writing Britney Spears tunes, so I've spent many hours on three or four measures of music.

I also beat four or five games this vacation, which also felt good. Back when I had a steady job, I got in the habit of buying tons of games and not playing them. After deciding to not buy so many until I've played others (and losing my source of income), I have been finishing a lot more games. And for the first time in about six months, I bought DVDs. I had a bad habit with those too, but when I got a hundred dollar gift certificate to Best Buy, I decided to splurge.

I spent New Year's Eve at haz_mat's house. This was a grand old time, except for the fact that I was coming down with a cold or something. Quite early in the evening I developed a headache. This was one of those incredibly painful headaches that left me unable to drink my drinks and eat the good food. Aside from that it was fun.

Thursday and Friday, I think, were mainly spent in bed, since I was pretty sure I was going to die. I'm feeling better now, but this morning I felt quite crappy again. That's my holiday story. I'll just be here cherishing the last days of the break and getting un-sick.
