We're going to temple tonight. I don't anticipate that I'll see too many people that I grew up with, but everyone will want to know what my parents' oldest daughter is doing with herself lately. I have plenty of friends who are older than myself who don't have their license. I didn't get mine until I was 22 and I've lived in an area where you NEED to drive (there's not public transport). And the job situation DOES suck. You have a million things working against you: A crappy economy, you're young, you're inexperienced (not in a bad way, just that you are young and have been going to school all your life), it's hard to go to work right after school.
Timeline of after I graduated (incase this makes you feel better)
Graduated in May 2008
Worked as a janitor during July 2008
Worked as a waitress August 2008
Worked in Waldenbooks from November-January
Unemployed until March
Worked at a god damn gas station where I had the highest level of education out of everyone, including my managers until August 2009
Worked at Borders from August 2009 until now.
Just last month, 2 years and 5 months after I graduated I finally got some form of a job that related in some way to my degree- tutoring at a college. Where I'm only being paid $9 an hour but it's still the closest to a 'real' job pertaining to a BA in English that I've come across- IN OVER TWO YEARS. So don't freak out and if I was there I'd tell your family to kiss my butt... and yours too.
