Young Author's Conference at Westchester Community College

I was at the Westchester Community College for the Young Author's Conference today. it was about 12 of us going there with the lovely ol' Ms. Monte, so absent-minded and confused it was enormously endearing.

My first workshop (of the two we were taking) was called Flash Memoir, where we learned how to write about ourselves in a rather innovative manner, reading excerpts from random books. Great shit. Alyssa and I had that together and I was absolutely floored by the talent I found in that room, seriously. There was this chick there, who was very pretty and kept looking our way and her writing was incredible! Seriously, and there was this girl who didn't really write memoir-like things, but her writing was incredible anyway. A lot of fun, I loved it.

My second workshop (which I had with mysticwind--whom I was so ecstatic to see there!) was called Experimental Writing which, honestly, I think was the most helpful hour and a half I've ever had. Seriously, the samples she gave (I was reading the ones we didn't get to on the bus home) were just amazing and gave me a shitload of ideas and my little book is full of random shit that doesn't actually, you know, suck. And some that does, but that's just because I'm trying out new ideas. Again, my class rocked except for one asshole who on the lunch line was talking about the overwhelming emotion in the room and how he couldn't stand it. He also had earphones in his ear most of the time. -_-;;

And now I have a Government Essay and Physics Lab due tomorrow which sucks but today was just great.

it would have been so much better if those CDs actually came today!

Maybe I'll post some of the little crap I wrote today later.

school, writing
