Gatti accepts Dalet-chan's approval and wishes to know whether she has continued to read anymore HH novels. Or is planning to, because there's discussion over at quigonejinn's place as to a HH reading community.

Extremely good effort for using a new medium ... you've captured his facial expression perfectly! Also, what a spiffing layout! Make it yourself?

Why, thankee kindly! XD

And yes, I did. A collaboration of random codes I created, understood, or neither that I put together to do things I don't even understand. The power of Creation.

If it's your first time using charcoal and chalk, dude, you done good.

What I noticed immediately about it was the depth and the lighting. It's not flat at all. The figure is standing away from the background and you have picked up the lighting on the face and in the hair, etc.

So it doesn't look like PMG. That sort of thing is just repetition, repetition, repetition. And I have a personal rant about the parochialism in fandom fanart tastes which seem to require that stuff dubbed good 'art' is more often than not the stuff that is literal lifedrawing. Me? I want to see art. Stuff that is about light, and movement and feeling and interpretation.

I hope you continue to work with the medium.

*convulses and dies*

You know after I drew this and before I scanned it, I was totally wondering what you would say to it? As you are, the master.

Thank you. I always used acrylic, which was good for my abstract shit, and plain pencil or watercolor for actual realism---but I had so much fun with this. I started it this yesterday in art class and finished it late last night. Definitely will work on my technique here.

I did most of this in chalk, actually and last minute my teacher gave me a charcoal piece which my friend soon debauched (don't ask, the memory still burns) and then charcoal pencils with which I basically went over a few things.

(And I am telling you my life story. >.But I'm very glad you seemed to like it. I tried to make it look like Paul McGann and initially someone thought it was Abraham Lincoln so I suppose this is a bit of an improvement. But I don't know, I just looked at it and got this feeling that I was beating a dead horse and I just needed to let it go. XD Now it's hanging across my bed in front of my ( ... )

I do like it, mhm. Have never been able to make anything with charcoal/chalk, so I must say that I'm impressed at your first attempt. Do more!
