[Mal looks beautiful and serene-she couldn't be more different from the half-mad hysteric she was when she arrived on the Barge.]
I have graduated. I ... well, as some of you know, I suppose that I technically graduated a fortnight ago, but I have been trying to decide what it is that I will do next. And I have now decided that I will be leaving. [Her gaze drops and she swallows, but when she looks up again her gaze is clear.] Leaving for a new life in a simpler world, where dreams are simply a thing one does when one is sleeping.
I had thought that when this time came, I would have something beautiful and clever to say. [She shakes her head, amused at herself.] But instead I find myself at a loss for words, so I will simply say that I wish you the best. All of you. And to you who have been my friends-thank you. Perhaps someday, I may see you again. Perhaps not. But I shall always cherish you in my memories.
[She smiles; her wide blue eyes are welling with tears, but they're not entirely sad.]
[Private to Arthur]
Take care of Dom when you get home. And the children. Tell them that you know I loved them very much. And take care of yourself, all right? Stay out of trouble.
[Private to Costigan]
Stay with me tonight. I will be gone in the morning, and I want to spend my last night here with you.
