Oh, but you don't mean that, do you?

And does it matter to you what I mean?

Coyote? The trickster?

Nothing really matters. Not when you think about it!

You've heard of me, then!

I've read some stories about you, it's true.

Mostly, your reputation precedes you. The specific stories-that was not my primary field of study, so I couldn't recount you any.

[But yes: psychology student, studied Jung, learned all about archetypes-and of course the trickster is one of the most famous.]

How sad! Shall I tell you how I put the stars in the sky?

All right. Do tell.

He who created the world was putting the stars in the sky, one by one, so straight and tidy, but it was taking so long, and it was such a bore to look at! What an inconvenience it must have been! Being the generous soul that I am, I offered to help! Such beautiful pictures I painted in the sky!

But then I got bored, so I just threw the rest up there helter skelter. What a mess! Don't you like it better that way?

But woe, I forgot to paint a picture of myself! So every night I look at the paintings I made in the sky and cry my sadness!

Yip yip yip!

Well, it was beautiful work all the same. And thank you for the story.

...You ought to talk to our moon goddess, if you can find her.

I'm glad you like it!

Which moon goddess, pray tell? I was the moon once, you know!

Her name is-oh, let me think ... Coyolxauhqui. [Sounded out mostly accurately, although not perfectly.] An Aztec goddess.
