I felt dumb...then accomplished!
I just realized if the publisher in my great grandmother's book was still active they might have something. I looked them up, found them and shot off an email. Also I was contacted by a fellow who may know something on my father's side of the family.
I feel like a detective in a novel. *looks at slippers* I'm just not as glamorous. *sighs and hobbles off to bed.*
EDIT: I got an email back from the publisher, no new info. I decided to contact the RCAF as my father said he had joined back in the 40's. (I should be getting a packet in the mail in a month.) He also claimed to be a civil servant so I tried to get info on him that way but they needed a death certificate, I applied for one of those. Then remembered I should get my butt out of my pj's and get ready for work. *scurried away*
