I went to a charity event that served Jamaican food and had dancing. My daughter went to an all night art festival in Toronto. (She had plans to go home at midnight.)
I went to my event alone and enjoyed myself until an older gentleman sat next to me and started to brag about himself for almost 2hrs. I tried to not encourage his attention but I was his focus. I went home at 9:30pm.
My daughter went with two artists. The 1st artist paid her mother transportation costs to transport her display to and from the event. The mother decided that she wasn't responsible for transportation back so left her daughter high and dry. The girls scrambled to find a cab driver to take it to a friend's apartment across town then went to sit in a 7/11 alleyway to relax for a while before heading home. It was 2:30am by this point and they were exhausted. The 2nd artist was letting off steam complaining about her mother. (Quick backstory on the mother. She was high functioning crazy. She couldn't function enough to hold a job but could do basic things like pay bills. She's been pressuring her daughter to get married and have babies since she was 16.) So the 2nd artist was planning her wedding for 2yrs from now (which would make her 26yrs) and her mother is trying to push it for an earlier date and trying to take it over. While they talked the 2nd artist pulled out her phone to check the time...she had pocket dialed her mother while she was talking about her!
My daughter said she had some huge elaborate plan to break into her mother's home to delete the message. It sounded like a Seinfeld episode.
My daughter got home by 4am. And for those who are curious, the mother heard nothing but pocket noise but her daughter was all paranoid her mother heard SOMETHING. Understand, she's not scared of her mother it's just that her mother is stubborn and unreasonable due to her mental illness. She loves her mother, she's just high maintenance.
As a consequence my daughter has been telling others about how her mother went out drinking with Jamaicans and I told how she had an evening like the show Seinfeld.
