well, i went to blacksburg friday to move into my apartment. my cousins came down from roanoke to help out, which was sooo awesome of them and i got to see my roomie for a bit. i headed back home yesterday afternoon, thinking i'd get there about the same time james got back from his week in north carolina, but he beat me by a few hours!
that night, both of my sisters and i were at the same party for the first time. it was an odd experience. james's neighbors on the river were hosting, so i met him at the marina at about 9 and we took the boat over. there were a lot of people, but they were mostly younger. we hung out for a while, then all the "of age" crowd piled onto the boat with james and i and rode over to the bar. trouble is, james thought last call was at two. it was definitely at one. we all got maybe two drinks.
james left me alone to go talk to someone and i got surrounded by all the men in there, (but that's another story) and one of them wanted to buy me a shot. so i agreed, and he ordered us lemon drops. the bartender lady passed them to us, and i thought it looked a little different than ones i had before, but we said cheers and the most evil thing i have ever tasted went down the hatch. me and the guy were both gagging and coughing. it tasted like sugar and lighter fluid... a bad mix. so the guy asked the bartender, "just out of curiosity.... how do you make your lemon drops?"
and she says, with this kind of attitude, "tequila and vodka. why, is there another way?"
he's like, "no no. it's fine. just wondering."
who in their right mind mixes tequila and vodka in a shotglass? and puts sugar on the rim? what about that says "lemon" to you? the fact that it's yellow???
so she tried to kill me. lol
the band quit playing at last call, so james and i didn't get to dance much and i was actually kind of disappointed. i'm getting to where i sort of like dancing with him. but don't tell him that or i'll never hear the end of it! :) we hung around for about another half hour and then headed back to the house and played cards for a bit. after dominating a few hands of asshole, i got kinda tired, so everyone pretty much decided to pass out. a few people spent the night out on the couches and futon, and i slept back in james's room with him. he's such a good snuggle buddy. i still get all smiley when i think about it. :)
he didn't sleepwalk any that night, but he did randomly sit up and scream "son of a bitch!" at about 5 in the morning. i'm used to it, so i just went back to sleep, but he apparently scared the crap out of his friends who were sleeping in the den!!!
everybody was kind of up by about 9, so we all rode over to the marina to get some breakfast. except james's cousin, he was still passed out, but he had a rough night. hahaha. james got up to get something and his friend tyler started asking me how long we'd been dating, and how he could tell how much james likes me, and all this stuff. last weekend, when we hung out with todd, he basically said the same thing. all of which just makes me feel so good. james has very subtle ways of saying what he feels, which i really like, but it's also nice to hear his friends say that they can see it, too.
*sigh* well, last week of work starts tomorrow. gotta try and say all my goodbyes and whatnot before friday. the closer it gets, the more i realize just how much i'm going to miss james... and just how much he has come to mean to me.
