This was Emma's wedding dress. The original dress was made and worn by her mother for her own wedding, but wasn't quite in the style that Emma wanted for her own wedding.
The original sleeves and skirt were kept, albet lowered, and the corset was constructed from fabric which the ingenious mother-of-the-bride had kept in good condition all these years. The corset, though attached to the skirt, is fully boned with steel boning and suitable for tightlacing (the bride was able to lace down much more than is shown in the pictures here on the day, and was able to wear the corset without too much in the way of problems until after the first dance). The grommets in the back of the corset and sleeves were oversewn with white floss, while the trimming on the top of the corset was the original decoration, having been recovered from the original dress.
Emma was escorted up the aisle by her grandfather, as her own father was the celebratnt for the ceremony.
The first dance was Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters", and while it may seem a strange choice, for the couple in question, it fitted.
Cutting the cake.. yes, that's right, the cake was a castle, composed of three different varieties of cake... and very delicious too.
