Another VQB block
The penultimate VQB block - this time for girliejones
The block layout is my original "design" but the stars are from a pattern style (I say this because the concept is a pattern but depending on how you execute it each star turns out differently) by Jan Mullen called "Spikey Starz". I have been learning how to do these free form pieced stars in class for an advent calendar I am currently working on.
The brief was to use only the materials supplied to create a star block for a picnic blanket. It could be pieced or appliqued. This block was very organic (largely because of the unpredictable nature of the how each star really would turn out) and I am quite pleased with the result. The black semi border is quite eye catching but it reminds me of the milky way...or something. :)
