Is the internet dead or something...?

I was working on my online portfolio, when I thought I'd check out some blend challenges, cause I haven't done those in ages. I checked out all the old sites that I knew, they were all dead. After that I searched for "new ones", but they also weren't updated or the links were dead. I checked out some portfolios of people I knew and adored, and hardly a site was updated. They all stopped like two years ago to update their site. It's like on Miranda O.o (if you don't get the fandom hint, nevermind. Oh, or do mind and finally watch Serenity!).

I just wondered...is the internet dead or something? Or does just nobody bother to make a proper fansite, collective, portfolio or other creative site anymore? All blogs are on livejournal, all art on deviantart, all photos on flickr, all friends on facebook and everything fandom related on LJ, too. Is this the brave new world of web 2.0? I love interactive sites like that, but if this is why private sites die, it is really a downside.

Or did all webmaster suddenly got a life? Did the internet got boring?
Where the heck did everybody go?
