For the love of red meat.

So our monster has brought us a whale. If I had not heard of it from here, the smell would have given it away.

This is highly fortuitious. Whales are made of meat, something we will not be seeing much of in the future, and none as fresh as has been figuratively dropped on our doorstep. I have read about new technology for food preservation, and it will be possible for it to last quite some time. However there is nothing in the past, present, or future that can compare to fresh meat, prepared with precise spices and cooked to perfection by a skilled hand.

I believe we should take advantage of this opportunity and soon, before the meat is inedible. It will be a long time before fresh meat is available again, and the freshest of it must not be wasted on poor preparation. If adequate facilities can be found, I propose an event be made of it. I am not usually one to volunteer my own services, but the circumstances and a passion for food compell me. I would like to arrange a banquet, for those willing to assist in the preparations. A good meal is vital to a man's morale. I do not have the genius for cuisine possessed by my former chef, but neither am I a nincompoop in a kitchen. Any assistance in this endeavour would be indispensable.
