Just wanted to spread awareness about the latest clash between the 1% and the 99%, involving a wealthy banker leaving a 1% tip on a $133 bill; worse, he scrawled "GET A REAL JOB" on the receipt. 1. I don't think any perfect model of government exists, unfortunately; I do think that the drawbacks of capitalism are less disastrous than say, communism (which is also built on false idealized notions of human nature). Because the U.S. has a mixed economy (free market economy + government purchases etc.) I don't think we're so strictly capitalist, just like China's not strictly communist if you examine their economy as well.
2. To my knowledge "class warfare" referred to capitalist bourgeois vs. proletariat folk, but I've never really picked apart the term before. Is there a better way to describe the 1% vs 99% argument?
3. I don't really think everyone considers themselves middle-class, and if they do, I would question their motives why. In the U.S. it's the middle class that suffers the most, so you'd want to be poor enough to rely on welfare or to be extremely rich. I would define lower/middle/upper classes by the amount of taxes the individual is required to pay the government.
4. I definitely agree on this point.
5. *noms on pie*
6. The OWS definitely has caught a lot of flak for being, well...plain weird at some moments xD V for Vendetta masks is only the half of it, although I do think that protesting is the lifeblood of democracy and while I can't be riled to go out there myself, I do respect those who want to.

Replying in list/number format was fun. I think I have to do this more often.
