:(

There is this hauntingly, quiet sadness in the way you described Belarus just standing there, watching the massacre site. I didn't know much about Kurapaty, so this was an insightful piece for me. I also liked that you mentioned that Belarus's strength is of cold, calm resilience - it really does seem to fit her that way. It's a pity we don't get to see much of her real personality in the strips, but I liked how that single line about her resilience made her stand out more as her own person here (rather than just a crazed sister intent on marrying her brother).

I wished this piece was actually longer, tbh xD

*hugs*

I didn't know about Kurapaty at all until a few days ago, so I felt really inclined to write something about it. How could this genocide have happened and I am just completely unaware of it until now? It just reminds me how important it is to remember the past, so its atrocities can never be repeated again.

I'm so happy that you think I was able to give Belarus more personality than the strips do, because that's what made me nervous about writing her - there was so little to go off of. The bit about the "quiet endurance" is actually one Belorussian's description of the Belorussian people, so it really is fitting :)

It's a great compliment when people say they wish my pieces were longer, so I really treasure that :D Thank you! I wanted to make it longer as well but didn't want to take away from the poignancy of a simpler work. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment ♥

A lot of sad things happened during the war; I suppose most of them can't be helped because it's not really just one incident or even one man's decision alone that results in genocides and massacres - it's usually a whole mess of things growing out of hand.

It doesn't matter make it any better but I guess the best thing we can really do is to just remember and also to learn from those incidents. :/

But yes, about Belarus! I'm very intrigued by her character, which is why I wished Himaruya drew more of her in the strips; you could say she's becoming one of my fave canon female characters in Hetalia xD I'm planning on writing her in a fic someday, so hopefully I get to analyze her more.

Ah that's quite right - some fics work best being short; like a small snippet into the past.

And it's no trouble at all. Keep on writing~:D

Belarus is such a one-dimensional character as Himaruya depicts her. I know he has a lot of work cut out for him, though :P Hell, that just means we can take more artistic freedom! XD All the fem nations need more attention, come to think of it :P

I already said how much I loved this. I think you captured Miss Belarus perfectly.

I don't find this offensive since you handled it very respectfully. I think anything a warning for it maybe hitting too close to home is more appropriate.

I'm really happy to know that you enjoyed it that much, especially since I know how much you like Belarus. About the warning, I'm paranoid because Hetalia wank is a scary place xD
