Random Observations and Fave Stuff: HBP

If you haven't seen the movie and don't want to spoiled, please

I'm still trying to absorb it all, but I have the following random comments, reactions and observations. Please, discuss ad nauseum! No detail that you wish to discuss is too minute!

  • Opening bridge crashing dementor scene - impressive and cool. Scarier for people who live in London and have actually seen and know what that bridge is, I guess..!

  • Holy mother of SNAPE HOTNESS THIS MOVIE IS AN ENDLESS BONANZA! First, there was a very pleasing and way above average amount of robe swishing being done by our man, people! I made note of a particular emphasis on the presence of the thin, trailing, dragging on the floor aspect of his robe this time. There was one scene in particular where they showed him in a straight on shot from behind looking out a window, where the robe trail was trailing.... SO SEXILY! GAH!!

  • More on the robe - in the scene with him rushing into the bathroom to save Draco after Harry wand-blasted him and the robe swishing through the pool of water all around... MY FAVORITE FREAKING SCENE IN THE WHOLE MOVIE I THINK! SORRY FOR ALL CAPS BUT EMPHASIS IS NECESSARY! OMG and how fatherly it felt, to me, in a way, when he healed Draco's wounds.. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

  • In general, was his undercoat cut a bit differently than previously - it seemed a bit more slimming and to make him seem even taller than normal, IDK?

  • Hair, seemed poofier and a bit layered, no? Was distinctly messed up in quite a few closeups. I was fine with it.

  • Speaking of closeups, LOTS OF INCREDIBLE HAND AND FINGER FOOTAGE OMG SQUEEEEE! Odd hand position during the unbreakable vow, no?

  • OK, weird, but I became fixated on this very weird incredibly too small for a normal human to type with typewriter that was on the desk behind him during the unbreakable vow scene. WTF? Why does Snape have a miniature baby sized typewriter?

  • I pondered a couple of times whether they used Alan's real writing in the HBP Advanced Potions book?

  • Kid vomiting on Snape ROFLLMFAO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA BRILLIANT!

  • There are MAJOR clear closeups of all of the gold scrollwork with words on the walls in the Potions Classroom - once it comes out on DVD we will have to revisit that lengthy analysis and discussion we did on that room and those archways and fill in the blanks.

  • Severus.....Please.... I am trying to recall EXACTLY the tone that Dumbledore used - to me, it didn't seem pleading or 'don't kill me', it DEFINITELY was said in the sense of Please.... do it, kill me? As it should be, no doubt, but do you agree? And WTF that whole scene was TOO Fast - it was like Severus.... Please.... pause.... Sev, "AVADA KEDAVRA" boom.... Dumbledore impression of Hans Gruber Die Hard fall (ROFL AM I RIGHT!?), then done. I was like WAIT WAIT THAT WAS TOO FAST!

  • HELLO WHERE THE F#CK IS DUMBLEDORE'S FUNERAL????

  • Wands into the air MY MAJOR SOBBING ENSUED!

  • Lavender - SO INCREDIBLY ANNOYING - as she should be.

  • Snape/Harry battle - um, what - Snape didn't walk back up to Harry in the book, he remained at a distance. OK minor detail. I would have liked to have seen that battle a little more closeup rather than done entirely in distant shots.

  • OMG SPEAKING OF WANTING A CLOSER SHOT - SCENE WITH SNAPE ACCOSTING DRACO AGAINST THE WALL IN THE HALLWAY SQUEEEE?!!! First, Snape was actually RUNNING to keep up with Draco I think in the beginning of the scene, then, he GRABS HIM, TWICE, and VERY ROUGHLY *COUGH* THROWS HIM AGAINST THE WALL! MY HEAD ALMOST EXPLODED!

  • Dare I say it but Michael Gambon gave a very strong performance, I thought.

  • McMonagal is old, people. She was ill, though, IRL. Is she OK?? *worries*

  • While watching this movie, I had to again realize that in my head Snape is distinctly Snape, and I can't really think of him as Alan Rickman.

I guess that's all I can think of for now. I'm sure more will come to mind, but I would love to hear y'all's reaction to all that stuff!

squeeeees
