Actually, this short bit is all i could find. I did a search in Russian sites and came across lots of sites with Alan Rickman's biography, and all of them mention this very Christmas play which took place in 1974 and in which he played a squirrel singing some weird songs. Only some sites call it an exciting experience, and others - a diagusting one... No idea whether it was mentioned in the Unauthorized Biography, but i'll find it soon, because i started reading it today, so if i find anything else, i'll tell you!
Oh and i also did a search "Alan squirrel" in Google and found some interesting things like this interview with such an extract: Rickman spent four years working the length and breadth of England in repertory before joining the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1979. During those journeyman years, in addition to suffering the embarrassment of playing a squirrel in a Christmas pantomime and having to sing "She's Pooped Without Her Porridge," he appeared in a wide range of rigorous roles, in such plays as Jarry's Ubu Rex and Brecht's Man is Man (at the Bristol Old Vic), as well as Ibsen's When We Dead Awaken (at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield).
Wow, those searches turn up some interesting info. I'm not sure anyone is reading this comment thread anymore, though. Would you mind if I posted a new entry about this? I will credit you for digging up these facts! let me know if that is OK.
