Need to Vent!
This is the only place I can vent about work now because I was required to friend my project managers on Facebook...
So on Tuesday, I had to send my main PM, David, an e-mail stating that we had just got a reminder call that Frankie had a dental appointment in Bakersfield on Wednesday. Since i was going out of town, I would not be able to receive work that day. I got a reply saying it wasn't a problem. I then noticed that David hadn't been signed on to Skype all day, bust just figured it was because he was busy or forgot to log in.
So off the family TRIED to go to Bakersfield for the appointment. Unfortunately the roads to and from Bakersfield (there are 3 ways you can go) were ALL closed due to the snow storm that hit every town within a 100 mile radius and then some! Well except for ours of course! So we decided since Tom had the day off anyway, we'd drive to Lancaster and Palmdale and have some fun.
To be safe, I checked my FTP site for work at 1 PM and as expected, there were no files. So we get home at 7 PM and I check my e-mail. Another PM had sent me 3 hours of projects due noon on Friday. Oh, it gets worse!
Issue Number 1: I had only originally requested 1 hour of work on Wednesday. I never request 3 hours in one day except for on Fridays since it's a weekend.
Issue Number 2: The assignment e-mail was sent at 12:15 PM which means the files are uploaded to the FTP site. Guess what wasn't there?
So I was furious and sent an e-mail off the to PM who assigned the work. I've had issues with her before so I also sent a copy of the e-mail to David, my main PM. Apparently, David was off Monday and Tuesday because of the flu. He had never received my change in work status let alone approved it. I sent a copy of the reply and it turns out the office intern was using the PM's e-mails to reply and NOT his own. So that pissed David off.
Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done about the work already assigned to me. Nhi, the PM who assigned me the work, FINALLY uploaded the files at noon, giving me 24 hours to complete the work. Both David and I asked for an extension, at least until 5, but she refused. She said she had saw on my Facebook page that I wasn't at the dental appointment and therefore, should've been able to complete the work on time. When David pointed out that the files had not been uploaded until noon, she said that if I had come home instead of having fun, I could have pointed that out and the files would've been uploaded in a timely manner.
Issue Number 3: All 11 files she set me had that there were 2 speakers and good audio quality with no accents or speakers and I would be paid the base rate of $55 per audio hour. She said also because of this, there should be no problem of me getting all files done in time. So far of the 8 files I've worked on, 6 of them had at least 4 speakers, the audio was recorded on speaker phone, and most of the speakers have accents because they work in Call Centers in India. So now I have to appeal the rates which she will probably deny causing me to either a) take a loss in pay or b) delay my time card a week while I go over her head to appeal showing I have good cause.
And BTW, this is NOT the first time she has done this.
So I'm pulling an all niter, pissed as hell and really wanting to ring this bitches neck! And I can't even bitch about it on Facebook. Hell, I can't even post when my plans change because she or one of the other Project Managers might see it!
I've been working on these files for 12 hours. Out of 190 minutes of audio work, I have 155 done. I know I'll finish by deadline, but it really pisses me off. Luckily I've CC'ed David on every e-mail I've sent to Nhi. So that way if there are any problems, he's aware ahead of time.
