Frankie's Shocking Announcement
So last night at dinner, Frankie announces to us "Faith likes Wonder Pets like I do. So we're getting married on Saturday. Our theme is Wonder Pets."
We had a good laugh until we realized Frankie was as serious as a 4 year old can be about things like that.
So today was his Christmas party at his preschool and we went. Sierra who USED to be Frankie's girlfriend until she graduated into a Pre-K program was there since her mom works at the Preschool. She is also Faith's best friend. We all commented that even though Frankie and Faith are getting married on Saturday (Apparently the whole school already knew), Sierra and Frankie once again snuck off and Frankie has another "Love Bite" on his neck from Sierra! Faith didn't mind either, apparently she watched!
But poor Faith. Her parents are going through a nasty break-up and custody battle (they were never married and even though he's not Faith's biological dad, he's been her dad since the day she was born.) He apparently was abusive to her mom and the kids, though the last part was never proven. She was upset because her mom was there for the first few minutes of the program and then had to leave to go to court.
Now Faith suffers from seperation anxiety and has as long as we've known her. She's fine when she's dropped off in the morning, but if her mom comes and visits, Faith breaks down when she leaves and is inconsolable until her mom (or dad) picks her up. So after she realized her mom was gone, she went into breakdown mode.
She finally comes over to me and goes "Frankie's mom, can I sit with you?" With the tears pouring down her face, how could I say no? So I went "Sure, sweety." And the plopped down in my lap and gave me a death grip around my neck. I even had to go with her up to Santa when it was her turn to get her present. Which BTW was the tea set she had been begging for, and she was so upset, she asked Miss Cindy (Their teacher) to put it in her cubby.
After awhile Faith had stopped crying and looked at me and went "Frankie's mom, do you know why I want to marry Frankie?"
I went "Because you love him?"
Faith - "No because then you'll be my mommy too and you'll love me as much as you love Frankie. And you won't leave me."
Wow... That had me in tears! When it was time to leave, I hated to. I even heard Faith screaming to come back all the way to the car.
If Christine wasn't going through so much right now, I'd send her a nasty Facebook message telling her off!
