This is a very promising beginning, and very well written. Can't wait for more. "A Christmas Carol" is one of my favorites as well, and I once wrote an adaptation for a different fandom, so reading this is an absolute treat.

Thank you. One of your stories inspired me, in fact - the one where Nine gives Jack the TARDIS key on his first day. That made me realise what a terrible thing the Doctor did to him after POTW.

Oh. *blushes* I'm glad you found "But What That Place Could Be" inspirational. And yes, the Doctor's behavior towards Jack deteriorates sharply once he's ten. (I know Nine originally ran. But I want to believe Nine would have come back once he'd gotten his head together and made sure Rose was all right.)
