a message from one of my mormon friends:

"Where are you living these days? Are you still in Washington? If so Tessa and I want to move to Portland, Oregon hopefully for grad school but if not then after grad school. If you are still in Washington by then we'll finally be able to hang out again. I'm sure you don't want to hear it but I know where else you can turn for comfort and peace. Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ have a personal interest in YOU and YOUR life. I promise that by turning to them and the Gospel they have established here on Earth you not only can, but will find peace and comfort and finally find relief from your loneliness. I'm not trying to preach, only help as a friend who cares about you. I'll be completely honest, I miss you and your friendship."

and my reply:

"Livin' in Philly now. I know you don't want to hear this, but I promise you that Joseph Smith was a megalomaniac wino lecher that scammed hundreds of families from their time, energies, money and possessions. Most of the positive aspects of the church are just "BEING A GOOD PERSON 101" and was hardly even new information two hundred years ago.

The friendship of your I miss dates back to grade school. Come jr high and high school, you were kind of a fair weathered friend. Don't really blame you though, tfm was an environment of unbridled negativity nigh the end. Not a good scene for anyone.

See you in hell, man.

-Taylor"

It is so insulting, to just come out of the woodwork to tell me that this God fuck will suddenly make my life better if I just believe in him as if I hadn't heard the same fucking crap my whole life. If my friend here really wanted to help, he would talk to me and, you know, be my friend rather than this distant character from a life I left behind years ago. PEOPLE!
