I went to my first day of class today... sloooooow. I guess I should have been expecting that though. It is Calc III (which I took a couple years ago). It's very odd for me to be repeating a class. Since I'm not failing anything, it makes sense for me to use this time to up my GPA with a grade forgiveness; A few years ago I never would've believed I would have had trouble with anything even remotely academic, so I'm kind of embarrassed to be using one. Went through high school with nothing but A's, and graduated pretty high up there without killing myself over the silly numbers. (Didn't really see a point to it.) At least I'm already able to reapply for the full Bright Futures coverage.
With the Barnies' buyout, I've been getting ready to go apply for some new jobs, but I got a call today from Friedmans' asking me if they could fax my application out to their store by John Young and Sand Lake Rd. I can't decide whether or not I want to set up that interview or politely call and say that it's too far... it seems like I'll probably get the job, but it's so far away. My car gets good gas mileage, but I would pay tolls also unless I wanted to waste gas by going a longer, slower way. I would definitely make more money, but I'd be working about an hour to pay off the gas and tolls for the trip each time I went in. I'll have to be nosy and ask Kelly some more questions about the starting pay/how much commission I would probably get before I decide if it's worth it. It might be. ^^ Also considering other jobs closer to the apartment, but Waterford is probably almost completely staffed by now, and I wouldn't expect the Friedman's in there to have another opening for months. Maybe I can sign up to work out at Sand Lake, asking to be transferred to Waterford if a position opens... don't know. Must ask opinions. If only it were closer, I'd take it immediately. Silly distance.
Lastly, I looked back and realized that I haven't listed off the cool work stories I've acquired lately. Here goes:
~ We always have a problem with people not realizing that straws are on the condiment stand, or in fact, being completely unable to find the condiment stand even though it's large and in plain view. We have a shiny, shiny box labeled straws, as well as a cup beside it with even larger bright red straws. People are dumb. There was this one lady who we told about the straws and she walks out there, stares at it for a couple minutes, and then asks again. Her 3 or 4 year old child looks up and says, "they're right there, mommy!" Mommy proceeds to turn red and walk away quickly. How is it that small children and people who we know to be mentally challenged can find them, and people who society recognizes as normal have so much difficulty?
~ Leanna and I were taking out the garbage after close one night, and the disposal is a giant compactor. You have to really heave the heavier bags to get them in, and so I threw one pretty hard. Next thing we know, there's a loud explosion sound, and little shards of glass come tinkling out on the ground. There's also this white mist/smoky substance floating up... my first thought was that someone planted a weird trash bomb that just kind of sucked. I think it was actually that we accidentally punctured one of the many whipped cream cans that we toss every day, and it went boom. In any case, very entertaining and by far the highlight of the day.
Now all I have to do today is get my laundry put away and hopefully clean my room a little bit; sadly I feel no motivation for either. Maybe if I watch some Babylon 5 while doing so...
