I really am struggling at coping with teenagers.
So they play nicely together and now it's too dark to see the ball, they've come in. I remind them both that they need to do homework and pack bags for the weekend (they are staying at a friend's place from Friday night)
They go upstairs. It's quiet.
Too quiet. I can normally hear their footfalls upstairs.
I sneak up, ready to pounce and restart the lecture about responsibilites, growing up and getting on with each others and ...
They are playing chess.
Not computer chess, or DS chess or any fancy electronic game, but real chess with a wooden board and wooden pieces.
How can I get cross? How can I tear them away to make them do chores and homework?
I know I should, but I can't. Not whilst they are playing chess.
*cries* I don't know what to do!
