30 Days of Character Development
Ugh, Tumblr sucks at individual blog archiving. Why do I even bother tagging my posts?
I'm going to start posting these up here, so I can share and have them for reference.
Day 1: Describe your character’s
relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good?
Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or
no?
Rioran: He doesn’t know much about his mother, and
he hates his father. For the most part, he was raised by his sister,
Arlillia, and his father ignored him until he was strong enough to
handle the powers of the Kass’na’vah. Rioran’s father disappeared one
day, and is presumed to be dead.
Liari: With her father being an ancient vampire,
Liari didn’t see him that often. She actually doesn’t know what happened
to her mother beyond the fact that she had an ‘accident’. Liari merely
assumes she was killed in some sort of inner clan conflict. Her
relationship with her father was impersonal, she was born to become heir
to her clan, beyond that, her father had no use for her. She was raised
by her cousin, Kien, and servants.

Day 2. What are your characters most prominent physical features?
Rioran: Red hair, bright green eyes with red pupils. He has a very angular face, square chin, jaw, etc. His skin is tanned.
Liari: Long black hair and bright hazel eyes. All
pureblood Varian have variations of these genetics (for example: Kien
has almost amber eyes and black hair). Her features are softer, more
round, and she has a full figure in my head. Slightly larger than
average breasts and hips. Her pale skin gives her a sort of allure at
night. If awake during the day, she looks pasty.

Day 3. Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don’t have any, is there a reason?
Rioran: He has a pretty huge scar on his abdomen, as
if someone tried to punch a hole through it….because someone did. Even
though he was Kass’na’vah at the time, it never healed over properly.
Gladian is that badass.
Liari: As a vampire, as long as she receives enough
blood in a sufficient amount of time she can avoid scarring from any
injury. Somebody has to have flawless skin, I got a bunch of scarred up
characters in this series!

Day 4. How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive?
Rioran: He’s not vain, but he’s definitely
self-confident. He knows he’s attractive, but it’s not something he
flaunts or uses to his advantage. Rioran has never been a flashy
individual, as evidenced by his simple state of dress.
Liari: As a vampire, she knows that she is
appealing, and she does think of herself as being pretty. But she’s
certainly not vain about it.

Day 5. What’s your character’s ranking on the Kinsey Scale?
Rioran: A 2.5 - 3. I would put him at a solid 3, but Rioran really prefers women to men.
Liari: A 0. She’s as straight as an arrow, lol.

Day 6. Describe your character’s happiest memory.
Rioran: He’ll never, ever admit it, but when his
sister had her twins (a rarity for Kass’na) and he was able to
hold/spoil them for a while, those were happy times for him. Rioran
claims to hate children in general, with his sibling’s children being
the exception.
Liari: I can’t really reveal this one, since it’s kind of spoilerish. Sorry!

Day 7. Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why?
Rioran: Everything involving Gladian. And he refuses to reveal that information.
Liari: Everything involving Larian. Because he sucks. Literally and figuratively speaking.

Day 8. Day of Favorites! What’s your character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower?
Rioran: Rioran’s favorite color is beige. He
actually dislikes anything sweet but loves salty/spicy foods. He doesn’t
have a favorite song, and he thinks flowers are for women.
Liari: Ice cream is more of a Human/Elven thing in
my world, so she’s never actually had any. Her favorite color is orange
and her favorite flower is called the Moon Rose. It’s night flower which
glows white and has red veins and a red center. Her favorite song is Death of a Nightingale by a vampire composer known only as Elliot.
