Five years ago today, my dad died of lung cancer. He was (barely) 57.
He loved words, newspapers, journalism and dictionaries, garage sales, folk music, Coca Cola, tomatoes, Victorinox knives, math, Toblerone, animals, swiss cheese, potatoes, rice, Volkswagens, camping, soccer, skiing, and my family.
I miss him more than words can say.
I often sit and wonder why
The clouds move free across the sky
I often sit and wonder why
The Lord made clouds, my dog and I.
I like to walk along the sea,
And watch a fish, a bird, a tree,
And as you walk along with me,
I thank the Lord for making thee.
I like to sit in broad daylight,
Or sit and watch the stars at night,
And as I watch the heavens bright,
I bid the Lord a fond goodnight.
