#3 When he pressed for my phone number, he was sliding rapidly into the Not Interested Zone, but women get the message on a CONSTANT BASIS that what a man wants is more important than what we want. Also, if we don't give him what he wants it will be much more of scene or maybe even dangerous. In this situation, I have to pick without having thought it out in advance, "Do I say no, in which case a) I have to stand in the rain and argue about it indefinitely, b) he gets angry and/or makes a scene, c) I have to deal with this guy being angry or making a scene the next time I play this club or any club in this neighborhood or with that band." The fact that I don't even include a d) option for "he understands that I would not want to give my number to a stranger" should clue you in.
