Hmm. I think, really, what it all comes down to is context. It's not so much about censorship as recognizing that there is a time and a place for everything. Perhaps you would have liked the sign to read, "While we respect an individual's right to use their personal Internet access in any way they see fit, we also request that patrons remember what is and is not appropriate for a public setting, and appreciate that we must discontinue your access if you choose to view something that is inappropriate." Of course, that's probably too long-winded. But hopefully you get my point. I have to tell you, however, that I don't think it equates with pulling Huck Finn off the shelf. I doubt they believe in censorship. I just think they poorly worded the real ideas behind that sign.
And please, don't knock libraries entirely! Maybe in some cases they are corporate and bureaucratic, but they are a FREE source of stories, words, ideas, poems, plays, programs, etc. for everyone (if the library is public). Personally, I think that's worth waiting to view porn (or erotic fiction or what have you) in private.
