general update stuff

Oh heck, it's been over a month since I posted!

So, I am still unemployed. Most of the jobs around here require skills/qualifications I don't have/are things I can't do because of hte fibro/Asperger's; 95% of the rest list "experienced" as an Essential quality. In such a tough climate employers can get away with being picky - and nobody wants to give a novice a chance when they can get someone experienced. I'm waiting for my CRB stuff to come through; once I get that, I can start volunteering at the deaf school. I find it entirely unsurprising that mine will take at least 4 weeks, whereas my housemate, who grew up in Germany, had to get a German CRB as well as a British one (she's not been here long enough) for her course - and it took a mere NINE DAYS for her to send off the application, them to process it and for her to get the form back. I don't usually stereotype, but it really is true in this case about what they say about Germans being so efficient! The Brits really could learn a LOT from them! Mine's not even leaving the country and it'll take over 3 times longer than said housemate's!

I was meant to have an interview yesterday, with some business support company who found my CV on one of the websites I'd uploaded it to. However, I didn't make it - I was having a bad fatigue flare so there was no way I was going to make it there. When I phoned to ask about rearranging, I got the chance to ask about wheelchair access. The main entrance is up a flight of steps. The bloke I was talking to said he didn't know if there was an accessible entrance. He then asked: "How are you with steps?" *facepalm* I also at that point found out that this was a job I'd seen advertised but had decided to not apply for because it was 37.5 hours a week, including weekends sometimes. I can't do that many hours a week, at least not right now with the fibro the way it is.

While that's been going on (jobhunting online takes up quite a bit of my daylight hours) I've also been to a Hallowe'en ceilidh, up to Southampton 3 times, started helping a friend write a fantasy novel series, started NaNoWriMo for the first time (though not done any for a week...word count is about 3,600). I have acquired a boardgame called The Hobbit. This is what happens when you hang out at Clifton Road Games...! I intend to take it to TolkSoc tomorrow to see what it's like. I've started playing D&D again (FINALLY!); it's a game that's Forgotten Realms and a combination of 3rd-ed, 3.5 and random stuff that Rob's put in (not Rob that I used to live with; another Rob). I'm playing an orc barbarian called Vola, nicknamed Voluptuous Vola because Harry wants to be able to make cleavage jokes (one Feat in D&D is called Cleave).

Burnley are still failing to win away. We keep conceding in stoppage time. One thing made me amused today: we made a £14.4 million profit. Bolton's losses have hit £35 million.

Phil is cooking tea at the moment and it smells soooooo good!
