LARP

Today was my first experience of LARPing (Live-Action Role-Play). My friend Andy (not to be confused with Jenny's Andy; this Andy is someone I knew in Lancaster) has been doing it for a few years and thought that I'd enjoy it. He was absolutely right; I loved it!!! I was generically monstering - the best thing for a newbie to do. Basically lots of hitting people with LARP-safe swords. My sword skills are pretty atrocious, having never done anything like this before. No worries; I'm sure they'll imrpove with practice. It turns out I'm better with my left hand, despite my right hand generally being my dominant hand. However, it seems I'm fairly ambidextrous when it comes to swordy stuff. Am also glad that I wore my contacts and put my hair in two plaits; anything else and said hair would have got in the way big time.

There was quite a bit of hanging around and waiting for the party to turn up to the various encounters, so I got some sword practice in, which was good. I didn't do well and lost pretty much every spat, but hey, I've never done this before and don't really know what I'm doing yet!! With time and experience I'll get better.

Really really enjoyed today!!!

Even the part in Tesco car park before the adventure started when we stopped to pick up food - I was standing there waiting for Andy and Jenny, when Adam strides up and, without breaking his stride at all, scoops me up, flings me over his shoulder and carries on to the trolly bay and dumps me in one of the trolleys before attempting to push me (in the trolley - it was one of the small-load shallow ones, not one of the really deep ones) into the Tesco. It was funny, I have to admit. I'm going to be more wary of him from now on!!!
