Two kinds of Motorcyclist....

There are two types of Motorcyclist in the world:  Those who have dropped their bike, and those who will.

I joined the first group within a month of getting my first motorcycle.  I came to a stop at a right hand turn on the Microsoft campus at lunchtime.  Many people were present to see me put my foot down in a dip and gently lay the bike down on its side.  I had several come over to make sure I was OK, including a security guard who happened to be driving by at the time.  One kind soul even helped me pick the bike back up when I couldn't do it on my own.  Goodbye pride, hello embarrassment!  :-0

As of last night, William has joined me in that first group!  Aww, he does love me!  :-)  In some very similar circumstances, he stopped on a road that was inclined both up and to the right.  He put down his foot on the low side and his brand new bike happily obeyed gravity and went all the way over.  I was driving the car ahead of him and pulled into the center turn lane so I could go help out.  Since the road was a rather busy one, we had numerous people stop and ask if he was OK and if they needed to call anyone.  One guy, riding another large BMW motorcycle, even pulled up behind us and kindly turned on his hazards.  We thanked them, said no calls were necessary, got the bike up and went home.

Fortunately, there were only minor scratches to the engine guards and the bike is OK.  William will probably kick himself for a while longer (I did!) and then get on with riding.  We need to schedule that ferry trip pretty soon or we'll miss the nice riding weather...  :-)
